School Uniform

It is very important that all pupils wear the correct uniform every day. Pupils will be expected to be in full uniform and may be sent home if they arrive with items missing. If a pupil is unable to take part practically in PE they are still required to bring in their kit and change for PE as they will be expected to participate in another way, for example, helping to officiate, lead warm-ups, setting out equipment etc. Jewellery is not fit for school. Pupils will be allowed to wear ear studs and one finger ring but other items (including facial piercing) need to be removed before coming into school.

School Policies:

Copies of all school policies are available on request. In particular, we ask parents/carers and pupils to read the following information:
Racial Equality
At Carr Manor High School we will continuously strive to ensure that everyone in our school is treated with respect and dignity. Each person in our school will be given fair and equal opportunities to develop their full potential with positive regard to gender, ethnicity, cultural background, sexuality or disability.
This school will actively promote race equality and oppose racism in all its forms and foster positive attitudes and commitment to an education for equality.
We aim to achieve this by:
• Treating all those within the whole school community (e.g. pupils, staff, parents/carers, and community) as individuals with their own particular abilities, challenges, attitudes, backgrounds and experiences.
• Creating a school ethos which promotes race equality, develops understanding and challenges myths, stereotypes, misconceptions and prejudices.
• Encouraging everyone within our school community to gain a positive self image and high self esteem.
• Having high expectations of everyone involved with the whole school.
• Promoting mutual respect and valuing each others’ similarities and differences and facing equality issues openly.
• Identifying and removing all practices, procedures and customs which are discriminatory and replacing them with practices which are fair to all.

Anti-Bullying
As a member of Carr Manor High School, you have the right to:
• NOT be bullied.
• Be safe and secure in your school environment.
• NOT feel threatened.
• Say NO firmly to anything you think is wrong.
• Tell a member of staff if someone is making you unhappy.
The School expects all pupils to:
• Not put up with bullying on any level.
• Help others to stop bullying.
• Tell a member of staff straight away of any form of bullying.

Behaviour
We encourage all of our pupils to strive to achieve their full potential and we provide a wide range of pastoral, behavioural and emotional support to enable them to meet their academic targets. We therefore aim to ensure that all pupils feel comfortable at school and are able to enjoy the positive learning environment that we provide. In order to achieve this aim we expect all pupils to behave appropriately at all times and we have a range of interventions to promote and reward good behaviour.

ICT Equipment and Use
Carr Manor High School has invested in new computers and laptops for use within school. We ask that pupils respect the equipment so that everyone can benefit from them. We also need parent/carer permission (by signing this Home-School Agreement) that your child is to be allowed supervised access in the school to the Internet. Whilst every effort is made to ensure that pupils only access appropriate material from the internet, it is not possible to guarantee that unsuitable material will never appear on a terminal. Neither the school nor Leeds City Council can accept liability for the material accessed or any resulting consequences.

As a pupil you are required to ensure that you:
• Have permission from your parent/carer to use the internet in school.
• Only access the internet in school when permission has been given by a member of staff.
• Only access services that you have been given permission to use.
• Only access the internet for information directly related to school work / activity.
• Do not disclose any password or login name that you are given.
• Do not disclose any personal details of anyone within the school community.
• Only download information with permission from a member of staff.
• Do not view, download or upload any inappropriate files / information.
• Respect the privacy of other users.
• Care for and respect the equipment being provided.
• Are alert to the threat of potential viruses, ensuring that your use limits any threats and that you report any potential threats to a member of staff.
• Use email responsibly and always use appropriate language – do not state anything that could be interpreted as bullying or libel. Pupils are responsible for any contacts that may result in emails being received.
• Do not post anonymous messages or forward chain mail.
• Do not make any purchases over the internet.
• Do not use the internet for any personal financial gain, gambling, political purposes or advertising.

Internet Safety
The internet is such an integral part of all our lives these days. It opens up so many educational and social opportunities, giving us all access to, quite literally, a world of information and experiences. But like the real world it has its risks and it’s important to know how to keep yourself safe.
Do you hand strangers photos of yourself?
Do you leave your front door open?
Do you tell strangers your secrets?
Posting things about yourself on the internet is just like doing this so, here are some of the rules for making yourself safe online:
Never give out personal details to online friends you do not know.
Personal details are email address, mobile number, school name, sports club, arrangements for meeting up with friends and any pictures or videos of yourselves, your family or friends. Small pieces of information can easily be pieced together to form a comprehensive insight in to your life and daily activities.
Think carefully about the information and pictures you post on your profile. Once published online, anyone can change or share these images.
The internet is not a private space. Never post any pictures, videos or information on your profile, or in chat rooms, that you would not want your parent or carer to see.
Never believe spam or junk email and never reply to them or use them.
Never open files that are from people you don't know—it could be a virus, or worse.
Some people lie online. Keep online mates online. Never meet up with any strangers.
It is never too late to tell someone if something online makes you feel uncomfortable.

Photographs
By signing the Agreement, parents/carers are agreeing for photographs to be taken of their child which may be used in literature, on catering cards, passes and on screen.

Mini buses
On occasion pupils may be taken to sporting and other events via one of the school mini-buses. Again, by signing this Agreement you are giving permission for your child to travel in one of the school mini-buses.

School Teams
If your child is selected to represent the school in a sports and / or other team you may need to arrange for them to be collected from school and / or be prepared for them to arrive home later than usual. By signing this Agreement, you are giving permission for your child to attend these events when possible.
